“A singer who stands apart from many of her peers because she takes on every song she sings so naturally. Jazzmeia is a performer for whom every word, gesture, and ornament becomes an expression of her total conviction and she completely comes alive in the moment” – London Jazz News
Winner of both the Thelonious Monk Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal competitions, Jazzmeia Horn has a name that speaks for itself, capturing her very essence. Hailing from Dallas, Texas, glamorous and dynamic Jazzmeia is quickly earning a reputation as a celebrated jazz singer. With the obvious ambition to pursue a solo career, Jazzmeia first graced the New York scene in 2009 and earned her degree at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. Shortly afterward, came performance dates with the veteran elites in the City.
Jazzmeia then began to appear in renowned jazz festivals and high-profile jazz clubs, e.g. Blue Note, Birdland, Dizzy’s Jazz Club Coca Cola, etc. Among numerous jazz vocal accolades, she has garnered, most recently was named DownBeat 66th Critics Poll “Rising Star Female Vocalist.”
Currently, Jazzmeia is a teaching artist in The Wells Fargo Jazz for Teens Program and Jazz-in- the-Schools program in Newark, New Jersey. Now firmly leading her own dynamic group, Jazzmeia humbly states, “I am thankful for the opportunity to play music professionally and have a deep desire to uplift the souls of others in need through my artistry in the spirit of music.”
