Pat Metheny continues to lead the jazz world as the most creative, dynamic and charismatic performer throughout the world and a constant innovator. He is nearly without peer on any instrument. Never content to rest on his laurels, he continually reinvents his musical environment. Over the years, he has performed with artists as diverse as Gary Burton, Ornette Coleman, Herbie Hancock, Brad Mehldau and David Bowie. His amazing body of work includes compositions for solo guitar, small ensembles, large orchestras, ballet pieces and even the robotic Orchestrion project, while always sidestepping the limits of any one genre. HIs 20 Grammy Awards are a testament to his status as a giant in the industry. The new quartet, which after a brief hiatus following the success of the Unity Band, features Gwilym Simcock, brilliant pianist from the UK, unfamiliar to American audiences, and Linda Oh, a highly accomplished bassist, with a big, rich sound and rock-solid time. With the matchless Antonio Sanchez firmly ensconsed in the drum chair, the band is nothing short of breathtaking.
